Innokin iSub Apex Review

Innokin iSub Apex Review

Innokin has released their latest sub ohm tank the “Apex” and in this review we look take a look at it and compare it to iSub G which delivered amazing performance for such a low price of around £16. Can the slightly more expensive Apex beat it or is it worth the upgrade?

The average UK price for the iSub Apex is around £30 so it is nearly twice the price compared the iSub G.

The packaging is quite basic and contains the specifications, authenticity scratch and Innokin branding.

The first thing that stands out with this tank is that it looks unique, stylish and feels very good quality. It is made from 100% stainless steel and pyrex glass which is pretty much standard for most tanks these days.

The new airflow system on the Apex is called PRISM and Innokin states it deliver more flavour and vapour than ever before. It comprises of a top air flow that can be adjusted at the top of the 510 drip tip. You can also remove drip tip and replace it if you don’t like the indirect airflow. The direct airflow on this tank can be found slightly higher up compared to the original airflow on the iSub and it is huge.

To fill the tank you use the top of the tank so you don’t have to unscrew anything which makes it easy to fill. It contains 2 symbols to indicate the mode (one with someone vaping and another with a drip symbol). Remember if you are new to using these tanks then always prime you coils with a few drops of e-Liquid before inserting the coil into the tank otherwise you will end up with a burnt wick.

The coil can be easily replaced the same as the iSub, you simply screw the bottom half off and take out the coil and replace it which means no messiness or leaking e-Liquid. It also uses the same style coils as the original iSub range so if you are thinking upgrading from the original then at least you can use any spare coils. The 0.5 ohm coils included are rated 20-35 watts. The coils have a mesh on the top of them to prevent e-Liquid spitting from the top.

We would have like to have seen a variation in the included 0.5 ohm included such as a 0.2 ohm coil to test the performance and vapour production.

We tested the Apex tank on 35 watts and straight away it produced fantastic clouds and flavour. Even on e-Liquids we have tested on other tanks it really brings out the flavour and in some cases out performs some recently reviewed tanks.

Pros

  • Changing the coils is really easy
  • Amazing airflow system
  • Use existing iSub coils
  • Goes as low as 0.2 ohm coils
  • Really easy to fill system
  • Lots of spare O-rings included

Cons

  • It doesn’t fit flush on some of the MODs we tested it on and leaves a small gap
  • The new airflow system is causing condensation inside the tank which can deceive the amount of e-Liquid you have left in your tank
  • You cannot dismantle the tank and clean the inside of the glass.
  • No 0.2 ohm coil included
  • Price is now around other mid range tanks
